MAIN CHANGES AFFECTING NON-EU NATIONALS:
CHANGE OF EMPLOYER
The application process has changed and requires new forms. Submission of the application – no sooner than 30 days before the start of employment. The candidate’s biometric card must be at least 6 months old to entitle for the change (with the exception of governmental projects).
NOTIFICATIONS OF CHANGE OF ADDRESS
The biometric card will no longer state the holder’s address; as a result, change of residency address will no longer require the issuing of a new biometric card. Changes will be signed and stamped in the applicant’s passport.
STUDENTS OF ACCREDITED STUDIES
Graduates (of accredited academic institutions) will be able to apply for a Job Search Visa with a maximum 9 months validity for the purpose of seeking jobs. This is not extendable.
NEW GOVERNMENTAL PROJECTS
All governmental projects (such as fast track, welcome pack, etc.) will be cancelled on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. New projects will be introduced and will aim to support further nationalities. The number of applicants on each project will be limited per year. Applications submitted before 31.7.2019 will not be affected.
BIOMETRIC CARD FEE
The governmental fee will be paid in full when an application is submitted and will no longer be split into two payments. This applies to any permit that requires a biometric card.
NEW DOCUMENT IN BIOMETRIC CARD PROCESS FOR EMPLOYEES
An additional form with an employer’s signature and stamp will be required when applying for the first biometric card.
MANDATORY CULTURE COURSE – new, valid from 1.1.2021
All non-EU nationals (with residence permits for longer than 1 year) will be obliged to pass a charged culture course within 1 year from their registration at the foreign policy upon arrival. Some exceptions may apply (e.g. ICT employees, students). The course will be provided by a contractor of the Ministry
More information to follow once the Ministry of Interior releases further updates
